VfB Stuttgart has completed its "home curse": At the conclusion of the preliminary round, the Swabians were celebrating in the Southwest derby against 1899 Hoffenheim's 3-1 (1-1) their first victory at home since the 15th August (4:2 against Freiburg). Ciprian Marica) by hand penalty (32. minute, shortly before substitute Cacau (68.) and Sami Khedira (82.) were responsible for the eagerly anticipated liberation. Maicosuel succeeded before 41 000 spectators at the ice-cold with a kick "hammer" (44.) of interim compensation. The already Luiz Gustavo cautioned for dissent after a foul saw a second yellow card (51.), so that was early Hoffenheim decimated.

After the break, both adversaries are continuing on the offensive. The first chance again had the Stuttgart: After a perfect pass from Pavel Pogrebnyak Marica put the ball in good position by (48.). Then Hoffenheim keeper Daniel Haas had luck with two shots from Arthur Boka (62.) and Träsch (63.) before he was powerless against Cacau. The striker had been set by Pogrebnyak well staged. The big opportunity for the third goal awarded Timo Gebhart (81.), who had only a score-keeper Haas himself, but showed nerves. Better made it Khedira 60 seconds later.
